Glas Cymru owns finances and manages Welsh Water. Independent members of Glas Cymru are appointed to ensure that the business remains focused on its primary purpose of providing high-quality water and sewerage services to the communities served by Welsh Water.
Each year a members AGM meeting is held at various venues within the Dwr Cymru neighbourhood and in 2016 this was held in the St David’s Hotel and Spa, Cardiff.
For Drake AV the brief was simple – delivery of excellent quality sound and images.
The conference suites at the St David’s hotel are sophisticated and refined. However, they have low ceilings and a wall of windows, which from an audio visual provider perspective can create a few headaches.
We resolved this by changing the main focus of the room, this is normally directed towards the long window wall. On this occasion, we placed the main focal point at the narrow end of the room. The widescreen projection was incorporated into a contemporary set backdrop branded with the Welsh Water theme and logo. For additional viewing support, we placed a number of large 65″ LED Visual Displays to ensure everyone had a good view of the presentations.
A Bose Line Array PA system delivered crisp sound and the unobtrusive speakers were fitting for the venue. The Sennheiser wired and radio microphones ensured great quality vocals. LED battens colour lit the backdrop set and the walls of the conference suite ensuring the Dwr Cymru brand was consistent.
The overall effect was refined elegance, the audio visual equipment supported the presentations, the set and backdrop suited the venue.
